Health & Safety Committee Activities
The UMF Health & Safety Committee is made up of representatives from each of the member companies. Its aims are to :-
- Share best practice on Health & Safety Management between member companies
- Alert member companies to newly identified hazards in the manufacture, test and load-out of umbilical products, and to develop actions to address such hazards
- Develop training methodologies to improve safety performance of member companies

Examples of Health & Safety Committee Initiatives are:-
- Management of stored energy in coiled steel tube and potential safety implications if not properly controlled and dissipated
- Assessment and optimisation of personal protective equipment (and hand tools)
- ‘Incident and Injury Free’ working practices (behavioural assessment)
